The Pickled Onion, Uxmal Mexico

After touring Uxmal in the AM, we planned to head to Kabah for some more ruin touring. But that wouldn’t be possible without LUNCH and some recaffination of course.

Jess found The Pickled Onion, a highly rated restaurant and B&B in the Ruta Pucc region, was right in between Uxmal and Kabah. This is one of the top meals we had during our Merida trip.

Here’s a recap of what we had

Sopa de aguacat (chilled avocado soup). Delicate yet rich. Super refreshing on a hot day. My favorite of the meal.

Pollo pibil (chicken with achiote paste). Tender, fall-off-the bone, chicken with a depth of flavors.

Plato yucateco. Literally, a plate of Yucatan food.

Fresh juice. I am a sucker for fresh pineapple.

Caffeination. Espresso of course.

I recommend The Pickled Onion if you’re in the area. 4/5 in my books.
