3 Days in Rome, Italy

What’s the best way to spend three days in Rome? The short answer is, eating, drinking, and visiting the sites! In addition to mouth-watering Italian food (with Roman specialities), you have incredible historical sites and ruins all throughout the city.

trastevere rome

Although Rome if heavily touristed, there are certain neighborhoods that provide more of a local charm. One of them is Trastevere, which is right across the river from the major sites. It’s filled with cafes, wine bars, restaurants, and local character. Charming during the day and fun during the night, we recommend basing yourself there for this three day Rome itinerary.

Day 1

  • Grab an espresso (or cappuccino) at a local coffee bar.
  • Explore the Trastevere neighborhood, stopping at Piazza di Santa Maria, Piazza Trilussa, and Tiber Island.
  • Early lunch at Salumeria Con Cucina Roscioli. Reservations highly recommended.
  • Explore Rome, stopping at the market at Piazza Campo de’Fiori, the Pantheon, and Piazza Navona.
  • Dinner at Armando Al Pantheon Roma. It’s surprisingly tasty even though right next to a tourist attraction.
  • Drinks Jerry Thomas Project or somewhere in Trastevere and stumble home.
